スマホによる「不正行為の疑い」を巡り「竜王戦」の挑戦者だった三浦弘行九段（42）が不出場になった問題について、対局予定だった渡辺明竜王（32）が週刊文春の取材に応じ、一連の経緯や自らの心境について初めて明かした。
三浦九段による、スマホを使用した「将棋ソフトでのカンニング疑惑」の対局は4局あるとされ、そのうちの1局は10月3日に行われたA級順位戦の「三浦九段対渡辺竜王」だった。この対局を一部の棋士がネット中継をもとにリアルタイムでソフトで検証していたところ、驚くほど三浦九段の指し手がソフトと一致したという。
それを知らされた渡辺竜王は過去の三浦九段の対局も含めて調べ、指し手の一致、離席のタイミング、感想戦での読み筋などから「間違いなく“クロ”だ」と確信したという。
三浦九段に関する疑惑は将棋界の一部で今年8月ごろから囁かれており、週刊文春も取材を進めていた。他に大手新聞社の記者も情報を把握していた。
渡辺竜王が語る。
「竜王戦が始まってから疑惑が公になれば、シリーズは中断される可能性が高いと考えました。それだけでなく、タイトル戦を開催する各新聞社が“不正”を理由にスポンサー料の引き下げや、タイトル戦の中止を決めたら連盟自体の存続さえも危うくなると思ったのです。そんななかで最悪のシナリオは『疑惑を知りながら隠していたという事が発覚する事だ』と判断しました」
10月7日、渡辺竜王は日本将棋連盟理事の島朗九段（53）に事情を説明。それを受けて10月10日に羽生善治三冠（46）、佐藤天彦名人（28）、将棋連盟会長の谷川浩司九段（54）らトップ棋士7人が集まり“極秘会合”が開かれた。渡辺竜王から説明を受けた出席者たちからは「99.9％やってますね」という意見も出て、“シロ”を主張する棋士はいなかった。
その翌日、将棋連盟の「常務会」による三浦九段のヒアリングが行われ、三浦九段は疑惑を完全否定したものの、結局、不出場が決まった。
