羽生善治棋聖が今シリーズの対戦成績を４勝１敗として
見事、通算７期目となる竜王奪取に成功！

竜王戦開幕前には
振り飛車党の若き旗頭・菅井竜也七段（当時）の前に見せ場なく王位陥落。
続く中村太地六段（同）の挑戦を受けた王座戦でも全く読みがかみ合わず
今一つ締まらない内容で完敗。タイトルを連続で失い、実に１３年ぶりの
一冠に後退と、調子は目に見えて下降線を描いていた羽生棋聖。。
しかし、竜王戦開幕と同時に全てがガラリと変わり
超高精度な研究と戦略に裏打ちされた、自信と気迫を全面に押し出し
積極的な指し回しで、開幕戦から渡辺竜王につけ入る隙を与えず圧倒。。
