日本将棋連盟は６日、臨時の棋士総会と理事会を開き、将棋ソフトの不正使用疑惑を巡る混乱の責任を取って辞任した谷川浩司会長（５４）の後任に、元名人の佐藤康光九段（４７）を選出した。任期は６月まで。
佐藤新会長は「一連の問題（不正使用疑惑）ではご心配をおかけした。これを機に時代に即して変えるべきところは変え、将棋界の信頼回復に努めていく」と語った。
佐藤新会長は、名人２期などタイトル通算１３期で、永世棋聖の資格を持つトップ棋士。２０１１年から、棋士会長を務めていた。
また、専務理事と常務理事のうち、今回職にとどまった５人に対する解任要求を審議する臨時総会開催の請求が２８人の棋士からあった。理事会は、２７日に臨時総会を改めて開き、審議することを決めた

三浦弘行九段に対する前代未聞の冤罪事件の責任を取り
辞任した谷川浩司将棋連盟の後任として、佐藤康光九段が
本日、将棋連盟会長に就任。不祥事は一つの節目を作りつつ
いまだ収まらぬ荒波の中、新たなスタートを切りました。
消去法で考えても、他にに考えられる候補は
羽生善治三冠と森内俊之九段しかおらず、その中で最も
現実的だった佐藤新会長の誕生。
自ら持ちかけた週刊誌上での独占告白により
冤罪事件を社会的大事件にした渡辺明竜王の片棒を担いだ
理事会メンバーは、谷川会長とともに辞任した島朗理事以外
全員そのまま残留したまま。。
また、佐藤新会長自身も渡辺竜王が開催し
冤罪に信憑性を与えた極秘会合に参加した事実があるだけに
任期である今年６月までに正せる部分というのは限られていると
予想されますが、それでも、精一杯の努力と行動で少しでも
将棋界の正常化へ歩を進めて欲しいと願っています。
